Hazen Audel set to wow the young crowds at this year's Shaftesbury Fringe Festival

Survival expert, Hazen Audel, set to wow the young crowds at this year's Shaftesbury Fringe...

Organisers of this year's Shaftesbury Fringe Festival are delighted to announce a brand new hub event, Abbeytropolis - Stay Wild, dedicated to local families.  And, what's more, TV presenter and survival expert, Hazen Audel will be there to talk to the young crowds about his adventures.

Hazen Audel has travelled the planet and lived with indigenous native people all over the world. Most recognised as the presenter of ‘Primal Survivor’ and ‘Survive the Tribe’, Hazen shows us the lives that traditional people lead while thriving off the land in some of the most remote and challenging places on earth, from Central and South America, to Australia, the remote South Pacific, South East Asia and beyond.
Hazen Audel - My Lives with Tribes is a unique opportunity to hear personal recollections of Hazen’s globetrotting travels whilst living with the most exotic communities alongside the wildest animals in the world. Hazen will share his many struggles, both getting to these places and coming out alive - but always feeling inspired for the next adventure.

Set in the grounds of Shaftesbury’s famous abbey gardens, Abbeytropolis will be a hub of activities for children wanting to discover something unique and exciting within the fringe festival environment. Local theatre company Paddleboat will host the day with four fantastic workshops aimed at children between 4 and 12 years of age, and close the event with their award winning show RUSTLE. To complement their forest school ethos, we will be running other workshops alongside Paddleboat such as tribal face painting, headdress making, make your own bow and arrows plus lots, lots more!

The abbey gardens will be dressed specially for the day by local company The Big Beautiful Bunting Co. and we have opened the doors for other local performers to sing and play for parents and create a truly authentic fringe festival atmosphere. Refreshments will be available throughout the day thanks to the Abbey gardens team and we are building a beautiful Stay Wild photo booth, which will provide a great opportunity for parents to capture the day.
