Who would like a tree climbing birthday party?

Looking for an unusual and adventurous birthday celebration? Tylney Hall Hotel, near Basingstoke, is launching a brand-new tree climbing birthday party package, suitable for children aged seven and above.

In partnership with The Great Big Tree Climbing Company, the countryside hotel is offering the chance to book a private tree climbing party to climb its 130-year-old Deodar cedar tree – one of the tallest trees on the hotel’s 66-acre estate.

Not only does tree climbing make the most of the natural assets of Tylney Hall’s gardens, but following a study by the National Trust which found that on average, children spend just 4 hours per week outdoors, compared to an average of 20 hours spent online and more than 17 hours watching television, it’s also a fantastic way to encourage enjoying the outdoors.

Tylney’s towering cedar tree is ideally suited to tree climbing and climbers will be able to safely reach the canopy using ropes and harnesses, under expert instruction.

Sam Aziz, general manager of Tylney Hall Hotel, said: “Tree climbing is an iconic childhood activity that it would seem many children nowadays are missing out on. With our 66 acres of grounds we already offer lots of opportunities for children to enjoy the outdoors, including woodland nature trails, cycle paths, duck feeding and outdoor games; now, with tree climbing available for private bookings and birthday parties, we can provide another really exciting way to get closer to nature and enjoy a unique view of Tylney Hall from the top of our great cedar tree.”

Tree climbing parties at Tylney Hall Hotel start from £450 for eight to 16 people, aged seven or older.
