The much-anticipated Hampshire Country Sports Day 2024 will be back at the stunning Bereleigh Estate in East Meon, near Petersfield. The event is sponsored by SHORTS plant hire and waste management and will also proudly support the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. It will take place on Sunday 15, September 2024, celebrating the countryside and the rural way of life.
Visitors can look forward to an exciting celebration of rural life and traditions. There will be a variety of ‘have a go’ activities and competitions, providing an opportunity for everyone to get involved, with lots of popular demonstrations and an extensive range of shopping options, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Have a ‘go’
The ‘have a go’ archery session, hosted by the Raven Field Archers, offers a fantastic opportunity for everyone to try their hand at shooting roundels and targets. Expert tuition from Raven Field Archers' members ensures that participants of all skill levels can enjoy this engaging activity.
Meon Valley Air Guns will return again to offer have a go target shooting.
Wessex Ferret Club returns in 2024 with their team of volunteers bringing fun for everyone with their hilarious ferret racing!
Dog shows
Bring your furry companion along to participate in the family dog show, featuring various exciting classes for all breeds, such as Dog with Waggiest Tail, Best Veteran (over 10), Best Child Handler, Brace – Best matching pair (any sex/breed), Best puppy (under 12 months), Prettiest Bitch, Handsomest Dog, Scruffiest Dog, Best dog trick, and Best Rescue Dog/Bitch (from any rescue charity).
The beloved Gun Dog Scurry is back, featuring classic classes like 'over the bales', 'mark and memory', and 'hurry up'. Open to all breeds of gundogs, the competition offers the chance to win rosettes and dog food vouchers for the top three in each class, generously sponsored by Skinners, BASC and Sporting Saint
Back by popular demand, The Lurcher and Terrier Show, hosted by The Coursing Crew, promises excitement with simulated coursing and straight racing. Dogs of various sizes, including over 23", 23" & under, and under 21", as well as puppies (9-12 months) and whippets & terriers, will compete in thrilling races.
