Poole’s summer of celebration continues with the first 3 Acres Summer Gathering on Ashley Cross Green over August Bank Holiday weekend.
The two-day feast of live music is headlined by hit making singer songwriters Finley Quaye and Mark Morriss from Britpop hitmakers the Bluetones, with the Ed Sheeran Experience tribute and a support bill drawn the area’s best local bands including rockers Saints of Sin, ska favourites Ratrace, the big vocals of Chris Payn, hip hop fusionists Numb and popular party starters The Jimmy Hillbillies.
Ashley Cross Green was originally known as Three Acres Field and was acquired by the local authority as open pasture in the 1880s as part of a land swap with the Canford Estate.
BRIT and Mobo award winner Finley Quaye is best known for soulful hits like 'Sunday Shining' and 'Even After All' from his top three debut album Maverick A Strike, but has performed all over the world and won widespread praise for his 2019 album Faux Nail and upbeat latest release A Sign of Things to Come.
As frontman of the Bluetones, Mark Morriss was a fixture of festival bills and the UK charts in the Britpop era, notching up hits like 'Cut Some Rug' 'Slight Return' and 'Marblehead Johnson'. He made his solo debut in 2008 with the folky Memory Muscle followed by two well-received albums for hipster label Acid Jazz – A Flash of Darkness and The Taste of Mark Morriss – and recording the theme music for David Walliams’ children’s books. Mark’s latest album, Look Up, is out now.
Alongside the quality live music, mouth watering street food from around the world will ensure both mind and body are well fed and with the accent on fun for all the family there’s a full programme of children’s entertainment for young ones including the brilliant Mad For Animals show, comic magician Count Backwards, Jules the Entertainer and Jamie Jambo.
Meanwhile, Pimm's, gin and Prosecco bars and plenty of craft beer, ciders and real ales will keep the party.
Weekend tickets from £13 with day tickets from just £7 (adults) and £3 (children) or £17 for a family of four, available at www.3acressummergathering.com.
