Over the Easter school holiday period the National Space Centre will be sharing the lesser-known stories of astronauts and icons who have helped us explore our solar system and understand our place in the Universe.
As well as time to explore the award-winning Centre’s hands on galleries, visitors can also take a seat in the UKs largest planetarium to discover more about the secrets of our cosmic chemistry, and our explosive origins (all narrated by Andy Serkis, the voice of Gollum in The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit films).
In addition to this, Mission Commanders will be hosting talks, workshops and “science busking” for all the family to enjoy.
Over the three-week holiday the team will also be:
Launching a brand-new exhibition gallery – thanks to funding from to the Severn Trent community fund, LLEP, Midlands Engine, Local Growth Fund, Kirby Laing Foundation, Foyle Foundation and Wolfson Foundation, the team will be launching a new exhibition looking at our own fragile Home Planet, and how space and science is working towards improving live on Earth.
Celebrating Earth Day - Earth Day is an annual event on 22 April to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on 22 April 1970, it now includes a wide range of global events, which in 2021 saw over 1 billion people in more than 193 countries participate.
Malika Andress, spokesperson for the National Space Centre, said; “The National Space Centre has hosted sell out school holiday periods since reopening. With significantly reduced capacity, to support social distancing in 2021, the charity has received such tremendous feedback on the customer experience, we have made the decision to keep the cap on numbers in place, so we fully anticipate we will sell out again at Easter but know visitors will really enjoy their time with us and appreciate our decision to keep numbers lower than in previous years.”
Booking in advance is essential, with all online bookings automatically being upgraded to a FREE Annual Pass, so for families looking for a truly out of this world Easter experience, head on over to www.spacecentre.co.uk and book now.
