In this new exhibition Equilibrium I explore two different aspects of the natural world through a transition of newly developing abstract work alongside my more established practice of traditional painting. Julie Ellis continues to entrance and beguile with her new exhibition Equilibrium. A talented oil painter, her work captures those fleeting moments in time, where memory and imagination come together, obscuring time and place. Julie is already highly regarded for her beautiful, atmospheric landscapes, which convey the ambiguous and ethereal qualities of the physical land around us, but this new collection also features more abstract works where she explores and exploits the unique quality of the natural pigments found in oil paint to represent the microscopic environment with which we share our existence. Equilibrium is the point of balance found between these two very different spaces within the natural world, expressed very differently and achieving different outcomes, but created using the same core materials. Equilibrium will make you look at the world around you with a new perspective.
