Robin Hood At Salisbury Playhouse - The Review
Just like so many families, going to see a pantomime at Christmas-time has always been a firm favourite of mine, and it is something my whole family look forward to when the Winter months return. And I have to say, going to see Robin Hood at Salisbury Playhouse did not disappoint!
The performance provided the perfect balance of traditional pantomime elements, such as the “Oh no he didn’t!” and “He’s behind you!”, mixed with more up to date versions, such as “Robin Hood, Hood Hood!” with a fist pump from the audience.
I have to say, I was slightly apprehensive initially as I had brought my twelve year old brother along to see the performance. But, as soon as it started, he was laughing at the variety of jokes and witty inserts from all of the characters, that were well-received from both the adults and the children. It certainly appealed to all ages, as there were children, both young and slightly older, getting fully involved and grinning from ear to ear.
The variety of music was amazing. The show featured music from the characters themselves - a personal favourite of mine being the Turbo Tonic song performed by Nurse Nora Virus, as well as the pantomime’s own take on more current chart music, such as the Jonas Brothers’ “Sucker”. The songs performed by Consuela, the Sheriff’s Spanish House Keeper, were also a favourite of mine!
I would definitely come to see this pantomime again, as would my family who came to watch it with me. The characters were so immersed in their roles, which was so lovely to see. A very well-deserved 9/10! Thank you, Salisbury Playhouse.
