Sandroyd shortlisted for esteemed TES Independent School Award 2019!
Sandroyd School has been shortlisted for the Boarding School of the Year Award in the TES Independent School Awards, 2019
Sandroyd is thrilled to be one of only eight schools to have been shortlisted for such a remarkable award, a true reflection of the diligence and determination of the teaching, support and boarding staff over the past year.
“This is a significant achievement for Sandroyd and I am absolutely delighted that all of the hard work of the staff has been recognised on a national level.” Headmaster Alastair Speers comments.
These prestigious national awards, organised by The Times Educational Supplement (TES), showcase and celebrate excellence in independent schools across the whole of the UK and, indeed, the world. The School merits its place in the final as a result of its combined successes in the classroom (its high academic results and, more importantly, the strong value added both inside and outside the classroom), as well as its ongoing development of boarding - notably its pastoral care initiatives, and its commitment to providing a full and varied range of engaging boarding opportunities. The awards are based on evidence and data submitted for the year 2017/18.
“It has been wonderful to build on Sandroyd’s excellence, from both an academic perspective and in our boarding offering too. This shortlisting is a great reflection of the whole Sandroyd community working together“ continues Alastair. “We have also been shortlisted for Pre-Prep/Prep School of the Year and for our Strive Programme in the category Strategic Education Initiative of the Year. The Sandroyd staff continually look for improvements in all areas of the school and I am delighted that this has been acknowledged. We are continuing to adapt our academic curriculum and this is an exciting time for the school moving forward.”
Tes editor Ann Mroz in her announcement said: “Independent education in this country is truly world class. It’s one of our great success stories. And those shortlisted for the TES Independent School Awards are the crème de la crème. We received a record number of entries this year and the standard is the highest yet, so to be shortlisted is an extraordinary achievement for any school.”
The winners will be revealed at a gala awards evening at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London on Friday 1 February 2019.
Good luck!
